Preparation
Dissolve desired amount of roux in water until thoroughly mixed and there are no clumps. If roux is hard, work it out of the jar a little at a time with a sturdy spoon.
Sample Recipes
- Chicken & Sausage Gumbo: Dissolve 1 cup (½ jar) of roux with sautéed bell peppers, onions, garlic and celery; add 3 quarts boiling water, seasoned chicken and 1 lb smoked sausage; simmer 45 minutes, then add green onions and cook 15 minutes.
- Seafood Gumbo: Prepare roux and vegetables the same; add 1 lb crab meat and 1 lb shrimp; simmer 15 minutes, add green onions and cook 15 more minutes.
Ingredients: Non-GMO unbleached enriched flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), soybean oil.
