Pasteurized whole oysters processed with patented High Pressure Processing (HPP) that leaves the oyster fresh while automatically shucking it without opening the shell. Each oyster is sealed with a band to lock in its naturally rich liquor before processing, producing plump, juicy oysters with a clean, fresh taste. These oysters are sold frozen.
Preparation: Shucking is required before serving.

5 answered questionsQ: I received my oysters today... they're pretty frozen. How long will they need to be out in order to be eaten raw? We're doing our boil on Saturday and plan to have raw/chargrilled/etc. oysters as well... but I don't want them to still be frozen. Right now, they are in the fridge.
A: Most items thaw in the refrigerator within 24-48 hours.
Q: Is it OK to eat Pasteurized Oysters raw? Is the flavor close to the same as wild non-pasteurized?
A: AmeriPure owner John Tesvich says the secret of pasteurization is controlling the temperature accurately to kill bacteria without cooking the oyster. The oyster is no longer alive, but it is still considered raw
Q: Are they okay to steam to open or cook on the grill?
A: Yes you can steam them to open, or put on the grill about 4 inches from the hot coals, close the lid and cook 8-10 minutes when they will start opening to indicate doneness.
