Preparation Instructions
- Remove seasoning packet from beans; rinse and drain beans.
- Place beans in a 4-quart pot and add 10 cups of water; stir in seasoning packet.
- Cover and bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium, uncover, stir and simmer 2 to 2½ hours (add water as necessary) or until beans are tender.
- Serve over rice. Options: add 1 lb sliced sausage, cubed ham, or other meat; beef or chicken stock may substitute for water.
