A: Hello, Our most popular brand of Hoghead Cheese would be the Richard brand. It comes in hot and regular. I would recommend you trying the regular.

In southern Louisiana, hog's head cheese is a specialty that used to be a deli and butcher shop staple. A glistening block of quivering meat, this “cheese” is dairy-free, but emphatically not vegan. Made of boiled scraps of pig, the fat from the cooked meat provides a gelatinous binding.

Richard’s Hogshead Cheese is easily one of the better versions of this Cajun delicacy. It is flavorful and even the “hot” version is fairly mild. When I cannot get to a local purveyor of Cajun meats, my guests are always happy with the Richard’s brand of Hogshead.
