Basic Cooking Directions

• With ground meat: In a 4 qt. saucepan, brown 1 lb. ground meat until thoroughly cooked (165°F). Drain. Add 2 1/4 cups water and the Dirty Rice Mix. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cook covered 20–25 minutes. Stir before serving.
• For gumbo: In 4 qt. pot, combine 6 cups cold water or chicken stock and Gumbo & Rice Entrée Mix. Stir while bringing to a boil; add 2 lbs. thoroughly cooked chicken and/or sausage (to 165°F) for chicken & sausage gumbo, or add 2 lbs. uncooked seafood for seafood gumbo and simmer 25 minutes (ensure seafood reaches 145°F).
