Keeping Crawfish Alive Upon Arrival
- Immediately hose down the sacks to remove any debris.
- Place them in a cooler with the drain open, covering with a sealed bag of ice.
- Keep them out of direct sunlight and heat until you’re ready to boil.
How to Purge and Boil
Purging:
- Rinse crawfish thoroughly in a large cooler or tub, leaving the drain open.
- Close the drain, sprinkle one (16 oz.) can of salt over each sack, and add enough water to cover the crawfish.
- Soak for 8–10 minutes, drain, and repeat if desired.
Boiling:
- Fill a large pot with water, adding your favorite Cajun seasoning mix.
- Bring to a rolling boil, then add crawfish and return to a boil for about 5 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and let them soak for 15–25 minutes, depending on your preferred spice level.

Dead-Loss Note: Expect 4–5 lbs of dead crawfish per sack in colder months and again in June (due to molting and weather changes). In warmer seasons, 2–4 lbs is typical. If you have a higher dead-loss than that, please record a video and submit a ticket on our website; photos alone won’t suffice.
