Shipping Restrictions & Permits
While we can send crawfish shipped to me in most of the lower 48 states, we cannot ship live crawfish to Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, or Minnesota without a permit (only boiled crawfish allowed in MN). Oregon residents may acquire a Crayfish Transport Permit from the ODFW portal or by calling (503) 947-6300. Minnesotans who want live crawfish must contact Chelsey Blanke at (651) 259-5350 or chelsey.blanke@state.mn.us.
Colorado now allows live crawfish shipments as of January 2024, though you may require a special import license—contact Colorado Parks & Wildlife for details. If you reside in a state with strict rules against live shipments, we can offer boiled crawfish instead. Just call us at 1-504-655-9972 for assistance.

How to Keep Your Crawfish Fresh
- Rinse each sack thoroughly with cold water upon arrival.
- Store sacks in a well-drained cooler with ice packs or a sealed bag of ice on top.
- Keep them cool and out of direct sunlight until you’re ready to start cooking.
Steps to Purge and Boil
Purge:
- Rinse the crawfish in a tub or cooler, ensuring the drain is open.
- Close the drain, add one (16 oz.) can of salt per sack, and fill with just enough water to cover them.
- Let soak for 8–10 minutes, then drain and rinse again.
Boil:
- Fill a large pot with enough water to completely cover the crawfish.
- Add your seasoning of choice and bring the water to a rolling boil.
- Add the crawfish; return to a boil for about 5 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and let them soak for 20–25 minutes (based on spice preference).

Dead-Loss Disclaimer: Expect to see about 4–5 lbs of dead crawfish per sack during cooler months and again in June due to temperature changes, molting, and fog.
